I Love Honduras!

Honduras is so amazing! It has such a special place in my heart for so many reasons. Being in Honduras has truly impacted how I feel about traveling, missions, and changed my perspective on life in general. Not only has it changed how I look at international trips and mission work but has opened my eyes to the way that others live and how just one smile and word can change lives. When you think about walking up mountains in the heat or mixing concrete it doesn’t sound like much fun, but after I walked up that mountain and I saw the faces of many people in need of our help, it completely changed me. I’ve included a picture of us working in Pastos Verdes. We moved a lot of dirt helping Pastor Alvin at his new church. It was awesome to be a part of the process even if it was just by moving dirt. You can see the new church in the background. We made a lot of new friends in Pastos Verdes too. One new friend I made was Oscar. I’ve promised to work on my Spanish and he is supposed to work on his English, so we can talk better when we see each other next time. This was my second time in Honduras and won’t be my last. Going to Honduras is an amazing experience and privilege. I was also able to help and encourage someone else on our team to witness to someone about Jesus. Honduras is special to me because it’s amazing to see how lives can be changed and I’ve been given the opportunity to help make a difference there My favorite part of the trip was definitely meeting and connecting with new people. I may not know much Spanish, but I am able to hold conversations and communicate in other ways that can only pull us closer!! When you think of Honduras you don’t think about a super wealthy place, and it’s true. But wealth isn’t what matters. Changed lives is what matters. There’s so much joy in the area we work. What people do, and their actions is what impacts the lives around them and how they live. Below I’ve listed a verse that means a lot to me. I chose this verse for this blog because it reminds me that God is everywhere, and this is true for me and all my friends in Honduras. I also pray that everyone there would know this to be true and know how much Jesus loves them and cares for them.

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” -Psalms 139:1-7

I love Honduras! I can’t wait to go back.
